The Stillwater Shop rents equipment for use at the Stillwater Reservoir generally from early May through at least Columbus Day. Our rental season can vary depending on the water level each year and the tendency for our seasons to fluctuate greatly. (Somehow, canoeing is not as much fun in the snow!) We are a small family run business and hours can be limited. We strongly suggest making a reservation ahead of time to avoid disappointment. We often run out of motor boats on busy weekends. We look forward to helping you have a great time at the Stillwater Reservoir. Camping is managed by the NYSDEC (315-376-8030); camping is year round, free and campsites
are available on a first come/first serve basis.
Whether you are visiting for the day or are camping overnight, the best way to see the reservoir is by boat. You will want to explore while you are here, there is a lot to see and our small boats, canoes and kayaks are perfect for
this! Water level variations, rocks, shoals and large drift wood formations will make each trip unique. Do not be surprised if you encounter one or more of our resident loons, bald eagles, or otters during your trip. Fishermen will be greeted by our resident population of smallmouth bass, perch, trout, and splake. Maps, camping and fishing supplies, and night crawlers are available from the Shop . Don’t miss out on opportunities to hike into the wilderness areas, consult with the local ranger (315-376-8030) or the Stillwater Shop personnel. The Shop carries many different maps for the area, such as, topographical, USGS, ADK Maps, and National Geographic Maps. Call 315-376-2110 for information on current inventory; maps available by mail order or at the Shop.
Not the camping type? Or arriving too late to set up camp that first night? Then Northern Lights B&B is for you. Spend your days in the wilderness, hiking or boating and your nights relaxing at a comfortable B&B.
